You never know what you’re going to find on Reddit, but sometimes you stumble across sheer gold. This past week, Reddit user u/erininium posted the picture above with that caption that read: “Hidden American flag cake that I made to celebrate my husband getting his American citizenship. It’s got the correct number of stripes!” The design is impressive to say the very least and when asked about the stars u/erininium said, “Actually I tried for stars! I put the blue batter in layers and piped lines of white cake batter, but they didn’t show up!”
When asked by another user where she learned to bake like this u/erininium replied, “I used to work in a bakery and they always baked cakes in tall pans and cut them into 3 layers, so I learned to cut very well. For this one I made two tall red cakes and very carefully cut them into 8 layers, then just used 7 of them.” Overall there was almost unanimous positive responses from cake loving patriots including thanking her for taking the time with the design to congratulating “Nelson” on his new American citizenship.
In case you’re curious u/erininium said she followed the video below in order to learn how to make the cake. u/erininium we salute you for this amazing baked good and want to congratulate your husband on his new citizenship!
